As the commercial stores shape your holiday mindset, always good reminders:

you don’t need seasonal accessories for everything unless you enjoy seasonal everything and inhabit your joy.

if you’re shopping, think about systems and not just end points. Does what I buy serve the greater good of a beneficial system? Very few mass produced items do this.

Neighborhoods and communities you build are extensions of home, otherwise you live in a fort. Great for boundaries (have those) but very isolating. We are stronger together.

Look around you for artists making things with meaning. Here’s what I make under my author hat and an imprint that branches out with other artists. Just like you likely don’t go Prada and Gucci only (or ever) when you shop, look outside of bookstores and traditional publishing and find some one of a kind literature that’s not part of the conveyor belt.
