Why is this significant? Ivan was and is my family pharmacist. I went there as a kid. He has a dedicated section in his store for local authors. He has an extensive collection of Black and Afro-Latino and Latino books. Ivan is a wonderful human being who is excited when I have a new publication out. If you are in the Upper West Side, do stop into Ivan’s.
How I pitched the book to him goes this way: Ivan, I have a story in this book that focuses on a planet that is a series of pharmacies based on flowers that lead to utopia. It was the title that sold him, truthfully. But also because he knows I’m in it.
He also stocks the second book of the series, Speculative Fiction for Dreamers, which has my story, “Jean”.
